Episode 1 - What if we had a smart grid for learning?
In this podcast we hear Dale Dougherty’s ideas about education. Dale is the founder of the Maker Movement. Although there are children who thrive in traditional education, Dale has always wondered how to engage the two-thirds of kids who don’t do well.* In his opinion, education is trying to be the system that solves everything for everybody, and it just can’t. Obviously he is an advocate of Making, which he sees as more of an intersection of disciplines than as a discipline itself. One of his most inspiring ideas is to propose that we look at education the way we do energy and create a smart grid for learning, like the smart grids we’re developing for alternative energy.
